Seven Municipalities Selected Under the Initiative “Empowering Municipalities for European Action 2026”

Within the public call “Empowering Municipalities for European Action 2026,” launched by the Ministry of European Affairs as part of the EU4ME project, an expert commission selected the municipalities of Plav, Gusinje, Andrijevica, Tuzi, Cetinje, Kotor, and Herceg Novi, based on their applications and predefined criteria.

The selected municipalities will receive expert, mentoring, and financial support from the EU4ME project to improve communication about the European integration process, with the aim of bringing EU topics closer to citizens in a clear, understandable, and creative manner. The support includes guidance in developing communication activities, staff training, as well as the organization of local events and campaigns.

The goal of the initiative is for municipalities to enhance their communication capacities and actively involve local communities in the European integration process, which contributes to a more visible and sustainable European path of Montenegro,” the Ministry of European Affairs stated.

By the end of 2026, various public events, informational and educational activities, campaigns, and initiatives dedicated to European integration topics will be implemented in the selected municipalities, with the active involvement of the local community.

The initiative is implemented through the project “Support to the Government of Montenegro in Communicating EU Accession and EU Assistance in Montenegro – EU4ME,” with the aim of strengthening the role of local self-governments in Montenegro’s accession process to the European Union and improving dialogue with citizens at the local level.
